Certified Brazil Trade Fair is a project organized
by the Institute for Forest and Agriculture Management and Certification
(Imaflora), in partnership with the Institute for Man and the
Environment of the Amazon Region (Imazon), Amigos da Terra - Amazonia
Brasileira and the
Brazilian Council for Forest Management (FSC-Brazil). The main objective
of this initiative is to promote the Brazilian forest sector committed
with sustainability.
In its first edition, held in April 2004, the trade fair was a good
indicator of the great potential of the certification market in Brazil.
It brought together a select group exhibitors made up exclusively by
companies and communities that had received FSC certification. The
second edition of this trade fair, which took place in April 2006,
confirmed the success of the previous .event, bringing in an increased
number of exhibitors, a wider range of certified products, and a
significantly larger number of visitors from Brazil and abroad.
The positive results obtained in these two first editions encouraged the
organizers to make this trade fair a bi-annual space to promote business
between producers and buyers of certified products not only from Latin
America, but also from other regions of the world.
